Chance Of A Lifetime

Chance of a lifetime is a gripping and exciting story of how clubman rally driver Alistair Sutherland, and co driver Peter Watts, won the 1986 marlboro national rally championship in the CBC Motorsport prepared MG Metro 6R4.

We contacted Alistair in early 2014 asking if he would be interested in writing a piece for the website on his experience with the metro in 1986. Alistair was really interested and after many emails and calls, it was decided that Alistair was going to write it and release it as a book.

The book is a fantastic read, with so many interesting stories from Alistair including getting the phone call to be offered the 6R4 drive for 1986. Alistair makes you feel like your inside the metro with his stories from each rally during their 1986 championship campaign. It is really nice to read stories from Peter Watts in the co-driver seat too, giving you an insight to the all important role a co-driver plays in rallying. Reading the book makes you realise all the highs and lows that a clubman rally team face when trying to win a major rally championship.

I have to admit I am not someone who reads a book, but this is just a fascinating account of how a clubman rally team win a major rally championship in the UK. If you like your motorsport, then we can't recommend this book enough.

The book is available by contacting Alistair Sutherland - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

All profits from the book are donated to Parkinsons uk, a disorder that Alistair suffers with himself.
